Nutella and Smarties cookies

Tips for crunchy and colorful Smarties cookies
Smarties coloring is sensitive to humidity. To prevent your dough from turning blue or pink, gently fold in the candies by hand at the very end. Do not overwork the dough and use it chilled (straight from the refrigerator).
The sugar coating tends to crack when heated. My pro tip: only put some of the Smarties in the dough. As soon as they come out of the oven, press the rest of the candies onto the tops of the still-soft cookies for a perfect look.
Yes, but the result will be different. Smarties have a milkier flavor and a thinner shell. M&M’s are more heat-resistant but larger. For peanut M&M’s, lightly crush them before adding them.
Contrast is key. Use a base recipe rich in brown sugar to obtain a very chewy (soft/sticky) cookie. The crunch of the Smarties will then perfectly balance the soft texture of the cookie.
